Play Ball!

Two long histories.

Baseball commenced in NSW in 1894 and was played as a winter sport. The Sydney Winter Baseball League began life in 1901. It was developed from a small group of enthusiasts to a competitive league to focus on the development of elite players in the state.

In 1974 the Australian Baseball Federation (ABF) made the decision to move baseball to Summer.

The Sydney Winter Baseball League was then reformed again in 1974 to continue operating during the winter season.

The Sydney Winter Baseball League (SWBL) provides a baseball competition at a representative level during the winter season.
